Course Design

This is a 3 ECTS introductory-level course that allows students to obtain core knowledge for starting up an innovative technoloy venture. The course runs over one semester with bi-weekly (7) sessions. 

Content delivery occurs through interactive lectures, guest speakers and case-based disussions and exercises, notably a term sheet is built and negotiated in an interactive role game.

Learning Goals

Students will build core knowledge (based on research and practice) about opportunity identification vis-a-vis industry and innovation lifecycles, structured problem solving and value proposition design for technology-based ventures, creating sustainable business models (value creation and value capture), IP strategy and protecting appropriation advantages, as well as mobilizing financial resources, notably business case analysis and termsheet negotiation. 

Student will also get insight into current practice through our guest speakers that are invited for selected sessions.

Administrative

This is a 3 ECTS course. The performance assessment takes place in two parts:

(1) Graded group report on term sheet negotiation exercise (40%)
(2) Written end-of-semester examination (60%)

To pass the course, both parts of the assessment need to be passed successfully, i.e. at least 4.0 each.
